Cloud Point Data

Traditional terrestrial scanning allows for large areas to be scanned from numerous vantage points, but it is typical to find a vast number Menu Icon Lidar1of occlusions (holes) in the data where the laser is blind. Likewise, traditional light aircraft scanning has the ability to capture the scene faster but due to the speed and height of the aircraft the cloud point density is vastly lower and, therefore, harder to extract features.

The Bionic Eye is able to collect incredibly dense cloud point data, and by flying around the area ensures that the entire scene is fully captured in very high detail. In addition, if the RGB camera is installed the cloud point can be coloured.

Data Collection and Amalgamation

Our back office 3D data processing capability means that we often undertake 'infill', 'complementary' or 'as built' surveys where we are supplementing existing models which have occlusions or are missing some key element (e.g. track top side). In these cases, our technology allows us to quickly obtain the missing (or new in the case of 'as built') assets and incorporate them into existing models which are returned in a format of our clients choice.
